The Green Book

A living directory of Black-owned and Black-adjacent businesses — because community is currency.

In a world that is actively working to diminish the value and dignity of people of color, we take care of our own. When we spend with our community, we don't just buy a product — we fund a dream, sustain a family, and build a legacy. The Green Book exists because our dollars are our power, and recirculating them within our community is one of the most radical and joyful acts of self-determination available to us.

Why The Green Book?

The original Negro Motorist Green Book — published by Victor Hugo Green from 1936 to 1966 — was a survival guide for Black travelers navigating a hostile America. It told our people where they could safely eat, sleep, and be seen as human beings.

We carry that name forward not out of nostalgia, but out of clarity: the work is not done. In an era when the rights and visibility of communities of color are again under assault, the most powerful thing we can do is invest in each other — our restaurants, our salons, our farms, our books, our rentals, our healers. Every dollar that stays in our community multiplies. Every review written lifts a neighbor. Every visit makes us stronger.
